TASTE T&T ...

(WARNING! This post may cause excessive mouth-watering.) :P

If you ever visit Trinidad and Tobago, these are some "must have" food and drinks!!!

1) BAKE & SHARK
You can find the best Bake & Shark at Maracas Bay food huts!

2) DOUBLES, ALOO & CHANNA PIE, PHOLOURIE (in that order)

3) CHOW

Plum Chow
Pineapple chow

Pommecythere Chow

4) CORN SOUP

*We have many other different types of soups but this is a main one.

5) PELAU

6) CURRY

Buss-up Shut (Paratha), Curry Channa & Potato, Pumpkin, Bodi
Chicken Roti (Dhalpourie)

*You can have each with many other types of meat such as duck, goat, beef or even just have a vege(potato and channa).

7) COCONUT WATER

You can eat the jelly that is located inside of the coconut too ! :)

8) SORREL

This drink is most popular around Christmas time along with Ponche De Creme (see in next post).

7) PONCHE DE CREME

8) BLACK CAKE

This is also most popular around Christmas time along with Pastels (see next post).

9) PASTELLES
In T&T the most common pastelles are stuffed with chicken or beef.

10) AN EXAMPLE OF A TYPICAL 'TRINI' SUNDAY LUNCH MEAL

Macaroni Pie, Callaloo, Vegetable Rice, Peas, Potato Salad, Stew Chicken, Fresh Salad
11) CRAB & DUMPLING

You have never really taste curried crab and dumpling unless you have tasted it from the food huts in Store Bay, Tobago. It's absolutely delicious!

12) PROVISIONS

This is normally served with a meat or fish in sauce.

13) BAKE & BULJOL (SALTFISH)

You can have fried bake with anything but bake & buljol is a famous combo. :)

14) SHANDY CARIB

A nice cold sorrel shandy is my "go to" drink to cool me down when it gets too hot outside. Perfect for beach trips.
